Sprinkler System Winterization

Kansas winters are cold enough that you need to protect your sprinkler system from freezing. Freezing can extend below the depth of your installed piping when temperatures remain below freezing for days at a time. In turn this could cause your below ground piping to freeze and break. To best prevent this underground freezing, you will want to take steps to make sure there is no water inside those pipes . While some homeowners may attempt to winterize their sprinklers on their own, hiring a professional like Turf Etc is recommended to ensure proper sprinkler winterization.

For sprinkler systems operating off of well water, we recommend winterizing before December. For sprinkler systems operating off of city water, we recommend winterizing before November.

City water systems have a Backflow which is an additional and expensive component of the sprinkler system that is above ground and at risk of freezing and breaking.
